What HomeGauge is
HomeGauge is inspection software used mainly for home inspections, and its RV offering is a template with comments and report styles that the company describes as designed with the NRVIA, aimed at NRVIA trainees and certified inspectors (per homegauge.com, September 2026). During NRVIA training an instructor helps trainees get it set up, so plenty of inspectors finish the course with it already configured.
That is a genuine advantage at the beginning. You leave training with software you have already used, a template that matches how you were taught, and someone who walked you through the setup. The friction of learning a tool at the same time as learning the job is gone, and that is worth something in your first month of paid work.
The limit of what we can tell you here is the sourcing. HomeGauge lists a free 30-day trial, and the remaining rows in our table are marked as not stated in the pages we checked rather than guessed at. Ask HomeGauge directly about current pricing, mobile apps, team features, and how often the RV template is updated.
Pricing, side by side
WanderWise is $49.99 a month for unlimited inspections and reports, with a 30-day free trial that does not require a credit card. We did not capture HomeGauge pricing during our check on September 11, 2026, so there is no HomeGauge figure here to put beside it; their pages do state a free 30-day trial (per homegauge.com, September 2026). Get the price from them before you compare.
What you can do in the meantime is work out your own cost per report, which is the figure that actually matters. At $49.99 a month, five reports works out to about $10 each and ten reports to about $5 each. Set that against whatever quote you get, and count the extras on both sides: if scheduling, a booking page, agreement contracts or review requests are separate line items in your current stack, add them in.
Both companies offer a 30-day trial, so the cheapest evaluation is also the honest one. Run the same unit through both, then compare the two finished reports side by side, including how long each took to complete after you left the yard.

WanderWise is built for phones and tablets first: native iOS and Android apps for capture, a web portal for office work, and cloud sync between them. Photos are annotated where you take them, video documents what a still cannot show, and the finished report leaves as a branded PDF with email delivery in one tap.
The checklist underneath is RV specific. More than 190 primary and 750 secondary inspection points across 15 system groups cover the propane system, 12V and 120V electrical, fresh, grey and black plumbing, roof and sidewalls, undercarriage and running gear, slide-out systems, appliances and safety items, with dedicated groups for tent trailer, toy hauler and motorhome components. Templates are fully customizable, so a dealer pre-delivery checklist and a full buyer inspection can be separate documents.

Where WanderWise works differently
Two WanderWise capabilities are not mentioned in the HomeGauge pages we checked (per homegauge.com, September 2026), so treat what follows as a description of WanderWise rather than a verified gap on their side. Ask HomeGauge whether they offer anything comparable.
AI image analysis runs on the photos taken during the walk-through, and AI summaries turn the findings list into a plain-language overview for the buyer. VIN tag scanning reads the federal tag with the camera and fills VIN, GVWR, CCC, manufacture date, axle count and tire specifications, which is the block of data most often mistyped at the end of a long day. Cargo carrying capacity in particular is the number the buyer needs before they load water, gear and a family into the unit.
The business layer is part of the same subscription: a built-in scheduling calendar, Smart Business Sites where clients book themselves, agreement contracts, team collaboration with smart locking, automated Google review requests after delivery, and cloud sync so the office copy matches the field copy.
Coming out of NRVIA training
The certification path runs through the National RV Training Academy in Athens, Texas, and is described as 3 weeks or 128 hours: INSP 200 RV Fundamentals Training, INSP 201 Principles of an RV Inspection, INSP 301 Advanced RV Inspector Training and an 8-hour exam review, with two full RV inspections completed along the way, ending in the NRVIA Certified RV Inspector exam (per nrvta.com, September 2026).
You finish that with a template in your hands and a report style an instructor helped you configure. Keep using it while you find your feet. The question to revisit a few months in is whether the tool matches the business you turned out to be running: how many inspections a month, how much of the work is motorhomes rather than towables, whether you are adding a second inspector, and how much time disappears between leaving the yard and sending the report.
